Children’s vulnerability to police abuse in Papua New Guinea
Produced by: Human Rights Watch (HRW) , 2005
This document reports on child abuse in Papua New Guinea perpetrated by the police. The report argues that the serious crime problem in Papua New Guinea is being met with a violent police response. The report finds that brutal beatings, rape, and torture of children, as well as confinement in police lockup, are widespread police practices. Although even high level government officials acknowledge this, almost nothing has been done to stop it.
