The Secretary-General's in-depth study on all forms of Violence against Women (A/61/221/Add.1) has been issued. To mark the study's presentation to the General Assembly (GA) on Monday, 9 October, the Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW), will be organising a GA Panel discussion on The role of specific sectors in addressing, preventing and eliminating violence against women. While it will not present new data, the study analyzes existing research and makes recommendations. Background information to the in-depth study can be found in document A/61/122. Find out more on the study from the DAW Web site.

Later this month, as happens every year, the UN will promote the important role of women in peace and security on the occasion of the anniversary of the landmark Security Council resolution 1325.
