The Secretary-General's report on the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against the girl child (E/CN.6/2007/2) has been released. The report analyses the current situation of the girl child and proposes recommendations for consideration by the Commission. The Commission on the Status of Women is making this subject the priority theme for its 51st session which begins on 26 February. An online discussion on the girl child was held from 14 August to 8 September 2006, which was followed by an Expert Group Meeting. See the UNICEF Call to Action to end discrimination and violence against girls.
